Go Spread The News – Christ Has Arisen, Alleluia

Christ Has Arisen, Alleluia – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE2zi1JqnSw

Christ has arisen, alleluia. Rejoice and praise Him, alleluia. For our Redeemer burst from the tomb, Even from death, dispelling its gloom.

Refrain: Let us sing praise to Him with endless joy; Death’s fearful sting He has come to destroy. Our sin forgiving, alleluia! Jesus is living, alleluia!

For three long days the grave did its worst, Until its strength by God was dispersed. He who gives life did death undergo; And in its conquest His might did show. Refrain

The angel said to them, “Do not fear! You look for Jesus who is not here. See for yourselves the tomb is all bare; Only the grave clothes are lying there.” Refrain

“Go spread the news: He’s not in the grave; He has arisen this world to save. Jesus’ redeeming labors are done; Even the battle with sin is won.” Refrain

Christ has arisen; He sets us free; Alleluia, to Him praises be. Jesus is living! Let us all sing; He reigns triumphant, heavenly King. Refrain

Easter is a joyful and powerful time in the Church, but for pastors, church leaders, and volunteers (and yes, yours truly), it can also be exhausting. You could almost hear the collective exhale after the final “Hallelujah” of the Hallelujah Chorus at the end of the final Easter service (or maybe I just heard myself). Goodness knows I was ready for a long nap that afternoon. Rehearsals, services, and the celebrations make it easy to feel worn out. But even though we may find ourselves on the other side of a busy Holy Week, our work is not done.

We are called to continue spreading the good news of God’s salvation. That mission doesn’t end after one weekend. In fact, Easter is just the beginning. It’s a season filled with life, energy, and hope—things that can inspire and recharge us, even when we’re tired.

One way we can find that energy is through the music itself. The songs we sing during Easter are full of joy and excitement, especially when compared to the more somber tones of the Lenten season. The difference is like night and day, and it helps lift our spirits.

A great example of this joyful music is the setting of Christ Has Arisen, Alleluia from Concordia Publishing House (see the Youtube link above). It’s full of zest and animation, making it a perfect choice for Easter celebrations. The lively melody and rhythm really capture the feeling of resurrection and new life.

I especially like Verse 4. “Go spread the news: He’s not in the grave.” That line is a powerful reminder that our work isn’t finished. We know of the salvation we have received, and now we must go spread that news to all corners of the Earth.

Even when we’re tired after Easter Sunday, let’s remember why we do what we do. Let the music fill us with joy, and let that joy lead us to keep sharing the good news with the world.

Alleluia! He is Risen! Happy Easter!
